anni fa. In Romania sono stati ritrovati i resti del rettile volante denominato Hatzegopteryx mentre in Texas quelli del Quetzalcoatlus. Entrambi questi animali raggiungevano un\u2019apertura alare di circa 12 metri, pari a quella di un moderno aereo da turismo, ed un peso di quasi cento chilogrammi. I resti fossili sono scarsi e frammentari pertanto attribuire ad Europa o America la detenzione del primato in fatto di volatili \u00e8 ancora oggetto di acceso dibattito. Il Quetzalcoatlus, che prende nome dal dio azteco \u201cserpente piumato\u201d \u00e8 stato ritrovato in sedimenti non-marini. In Rumania remains of the flying reptile named Hatzegopteryx were recently discovered while Texas offered fossils of Quetzalcoatlus. Both these animals reached a wingspan of about 12 meters, like a small airplane and weighted almost 100 kg. Fossil remains are scarce and fragmentary therefore saying where, in Europe or America, the largest flying animals were found is still impossible. Quetzalcoaltus, named by the aztec god \u201cfeathered snake\u201d was discovered into non-marine sediments. It\u2019s diet, once thought based on dead critters, was re-considered due to the poor flexibility of the long neck.
